Effective date: July 17, 2026
Welcome to Squabble Inn ("Squabble," "the service," "we," "us"). These Terms of Service and the Code of Conduct below are the house rules of the Inn. By creating an account or using Squabble, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
1. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use Squabble. You are responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. Provide accurate information and don't impersonate anyone.
2. What Squabble is (and isn't)
Squabble Inn is a companion for audiobooks you already own or have access to. You bring your own audio files or connect your own Audiobookshelf server; we do not sell, host, stream, or license audiobook content. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to play the audio you import. If you connect a self-hosted server, that server is yours — its availability, security, and contents are your responsibility.
3. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you post — comments, topics, tavern messages, guild names ("your content"). You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display, and distribute your content solely to operate the service (for example, showing your comment to a guildmate when they reach that point in the book). You can delete your content at any time, and deleting your account removes or anonymizes it.
4. Code of Conduct
The Inn is a small, friendly place. To keep it that way:
- No harassment or hate. No abuse, threats, bullying, or content that attacks people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or anything else.
- No sexually explicit or violent content. Keep posts appropriate for a general audience.
- No spam or scams. No unsolicited promotion, phishing, or deceptive content.
- No illegal content or content that infringes others' rights.
- Don't spoil on purpose. The whole Inn runs on spoiler safety — circumventing it to spoil books for guildmates is a bannable offense in both letter and spirit.
Moderation. You can report any comment, topic, or tavern message from inside the app, and block any user to hide their content from you. We review reports and act on objectionable content within 24 hours, including removing content and ejecting the users responsible. We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules, with or without notice.
5. Purchases and the Founding Fee
Squabble is free to use. In the future, forging (creating) a guild may require a one-time Founding Fee, purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The Founding Fee is a founding contribution that unlocks the guild-forging feature as it exists at the time of purchase. It is not a subscription, carries no recurring charge, and — like the rest of the service — does not constitute a guarantee that any particular feature, or the service itself, will be available indefinitely. We may modify, add, or discontinue features over time. Payment, billing, and refunds for any purchase are handled by Apple or Google under their terms.
6. Termination
You can stop using Squabble and delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete Account). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, abuse the service, or create risk for us or other users. Sections 3–8 survive termination to the extent applicable.
7. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that your data will never be lost — keep backups of audio files you care about (we never had them in the first place).
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Squabble and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of $10 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the service operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes we will update the effective date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
