An Epic Quest is a whole book series tracked as a single quest on your guild's board. Instead of adding five separate books, you add the saga once and Squabble follows each Adventurer through it, book by book.
What an Epic Quest tracks
An Epic Quest bundles an ordered series — say, all of The Kingkiller Chronicle — into one entry. It keeps:
- The ordered list of books in the series.
- Each Adventurer's position: which book they're currently on and which ones they've finished.
- The guild's overall place in the series.
On the Quest Board, an Epic Quest folds its books into a collapsible group rather than scattering them across the board, so a long series stays tidy.
The community discovery index
Series data in Squabble is community-contributed. There's no central catalog maintained by a publisher — the first guild to group a set of books into a series discovers it and forges the Epic Quest. From then on, that series lives in a shared discovery index, so the next guild to pick up the same books finds the Epic Quest already mapped out.
Guild Titles
Epic Quests are how your guild — not just individual Adventurers — earns honor. As a guild discovers and completes Epic Quests, it earns guild Titles:
- Cartographer — for mapping new territory by discovering Epic Quests.
- Lorekeeper — for discovering many Epic Quests (five or more).
- Trailblazer — for completing an Epic Quest your own guild discovered.
- Chronicler — for the guild's broader record of finished sagas.
These guild Titles are distinct from the personal Titles an individual Adventurer equips on their profile. A guild's earned Titles appear alongside its name, a record of the parties it has seen through to the end.
Reading an Epic Quest
There's no separate mode to enter. You read each book in the series the same way you read any Quest — in the player, leaving timestamp comments and starting Topics. The Epic Quest simply stitches those books together and keeps score of where everyone is across the whole series.
